Eleven families founded the Naturerlebnisland Elnrode-Strang support association at the end of 2003 in the course of village renewal. They wanted to create a natural playground between Elnrode and Strang. A nature experience playground was to be created that would stimulate the children's senses.

This place was founded on the outskirts of Elnrode, and over the years it has been developed into a true gem with the help of volunteers with many ideas and a great deal of commitment. In addition, the care for the place is also guaranteed through the honorary work by the association members.

The annual highlight is the vacation games, which the association offers the children every year during the summer vacations for 3 days. In addition to spending time in nature, the children have fun doing sports, playing games, doing handicrafts and small knowledge games.

The first vacation games took place in 2004 with about 25 children. Most recently, the number of participants was usually 30-40 children. Planning starts as early as February to give the children between the ages of 4 and 14 a few days full of exciting adventures.

In recent years, the playground has been extensively modernized and expanded. In 2014, a double swing was installed and an equipment shed was built. In 2015, a large sun awning was procured and in 2016, the highlight of the playground was built: the rope course. In 2019, the area was provided with access to electricity.

Today, the support association has a remarkable 166 members, 67 of whom are children and young people.

The annual lantern parade on St. Martin's Day and the Christmas tree decorating, which is held at the Square of the Generations as part of a family service every year on the First Sunday of Advent, have also become a tradition. The association is involved significantly in these events.

After consultation with the chairman of the association, the grounds together with the facilities can be rented for private children's birthday parties, summer parties or also for excursions of kindergartens and schools through the municipality of Jesberg.
